Umfors is created by the designer Malin Lundmark. This luminaire is a tribute to a village in the Swedish Lappland mountains that is very close to Malin's heart. A village where the Umeå River originates, where the mountains enclose the lake Över-Uman and where the stream sing. ""When I'm there, I become one with nature and time stands still"", says Malin. The lamp is made of a mixture consisting of sandstone and polyresin, which gives it a vibrant character. The round top part symbolizes the ice in Umfors, which often in winter becomes 1 meter thick and the lower concrete coloured part symbolizes the mountains. The lamp is IP44-classified, which means that it can withstand water splashes and larger particles such as sand grains. Hence, it is well suited outdoors and provides pleasant mood lighting. The lamp has an included 300 cm long black cable that can withstand -40°C. There may be colour variations and a vibrant appearance when the lamp is lit, this is because the material contains small grains of sand and the shade varies in thickness, each lamp is unique.
